On May 5, 2024, our furnace started, stopped, started, stopped, and we had very little heat and zero hot water. We are Townsend customers and buy a service plan every year, thank heavens. First, Frank showed up at the end of his day, assessed the problem, and called in for the night shift to correct the problem. At 6:30, much sooner than we expected, Harry showed up and went right to work. He not only fixed the problem right away (I can't tell you exactly what he did, but he fixed the furnace so it was humming along nicely), but he took the time to explain to me WHY the furnace malfunctioned. He showed me where lint from the clothes dryer had been sucked into the system and clogged it. (The room where the furnace is located is very crowded; we have no basement. The dryer is opposite the furnace, and less than 3 feet away). Harry instructed me to not open the dryer door while it's spinning, because the lint is airborne and gets sucked into the furnace. Problem solved. Case closed. We are so grateful for Frank and Harry, especially since we had no idea that we were the source of the trouble.
Our hats off to Townsend once again. You have the nicest technicians and delivery people.

I’m a property manager of a condo complex in Danvers. We had been having issues for the last couple of months with the furnace. We had techs come out on two other occasions to try and remedy the issue; however, the issue persisted.

Our furnace broke down on a Saturday & we tried to resolve the problem on our own to no avail. Called for service Sunday evening & was told we were being placed on an emergency basis. Called again Monday morning to learn we were never put on the list. Called a couple of hours later and learned a tech would be by in the next hour or so.
The tech arrived and was very knowledgeable with our old system and recommended we look into a new system after he got it up & running. Tech was professional and friendly and followed through with having someone contact us to discuss our options. It's a holiday weekend so we will follow up in the coming week re our options.

Justin is definitely an invaluable asset to Lombardi. 👍 I was sitting on my neighbor’s porch chatting with her when the Lombardi van pulled up. She said he’s here for my annual furnace service. This very pleasant guy with a big smile greeted her, said, 'Don’t get up, I know where it is,' and even asked her if, like last year, she needed him to shut off the outside water from under her kitchen sink (she has very bad arthritis). I was so impressed with this guy and decided that I had to have him do our annual service too. I called to request the guy that my friend had. After looking up her address, I was told that it was Justin. I immediately called and asked if I could request Justin to perform our annual furnace service—YES! Justin is so professional, knowledgeable, respectful, pleasant, and has an awesome sense of humor (something that is always a plus in our book!). I can’t commend Justin enough. This is a long review, but read through the entire thing, please! The sign of a quality company can be found in how they treat their customers. We would give Townsend more stars if we could. What started out as a very negative experience was turned around due to a team of very dedicated employees and a very responsive owner. We lost heat on a Sunday night and called Townsend first thing Monday morning as we have been autodelivery propane customers for years. The installers of our only 6 y.o. furnace were out of the question (long story, bad experience). Through a series of miscommunications, a tech did not arrive till 7:45 p.m., diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger, and suggested it would probably be a better idea to replace the furnace than sink thousands into replacing the heat exchanger in a 6 y.o. furnace. He noted on his paperwork to have sales call us ASAP. Crickets. No call from sales on Tuesday, so I called another company for a quote. On Wednesday, I hopped on the Ask Jim feature of Townsend's website to vent my frustrations. To my surprise, I received a phone call and email from Jim Townsend within an hour. He apologized profusely and promised to make things right. I originally rebuffed the idea of letting them still give us a price, but finally acquiesced. Jim was truly concerned and apologetic; how could I not? And I am glad I did! Jason came out, gave us a price much lower than what we had received—and on a better unit. He added in service perks and a finance package we could not say 'No' to. Do not hesitate to use Townsend. You will find them to be fair, competitive, and very customer oriented. And if you encounter a rare problem (as their high review rate indicates), give them a chance to make it right. You won't be disappointed.

Needed to schedule maintenance on my furnace and on-demand hot water heater and got Beth on the phone. She was great! The date I wanted was out into May and she went through their calendar to make sure they were available the day I wanted. Then as I was reviewing the date with her before I hung up (I was driving at the time), I remembered I had another appointment already scheduled for that date and had forgotten to put it on my calendar! If I could give 6 stars I would! Mike from Townsend Energy was sent out within an hour of me placing a call with no heat and after my plumber left and told me to check on the propane level. I had plenty of propane, so Mike methodically checked the pressure coming into the house and then went to the furnace to do a thorough inspection. He knew what to look for and explained it all to me as he went through the logic and showed me the mechanics of the burner and why I was having the issue we were having. He explained how it can be easily fixed and also showed me how to troubleshoot from a homeowner's perspective as well. I learned so much from him and really, really appreciate the explanation and also appreciate that Townsend has professionals like him that are thorough and skilled. I would highly recommend them as Jim Townsend knows how to hire and keep good employees.

Who could ask for better service than that!
I recently had to change suppliers and selected Townsend based primarily upon their reviews. Being a new "generator only" propane customer, I have to say that so far I am delighted with the customer service. During my new customer tank inspection, a leak was detected underground that has more than likely been there for many years. The service technician could have finished his inspection and sent me to the scheduling department for a future repair, but instead he called for parts and labor assistance and had me back in service within a few hours. This included digging by hand on a brutally hot day. Who could ask for better service than that! If it weren't for the fact that I have been buying my home heating oil from another company for over 40 years, I would probably swap that as well. Thanks again to the two service techs who helped me out to keep my generator ready to run.

I have been a customer for over 30 years with the monthly service contract in place. Recently, I detected a minor leak in my original oil tank at 8 a.m. Within an hour, a service person was on site and determined the tank would need to be replaced. By 11 a.m., the recovery crew was here to capture the oil to prevent any spillage incident. By 1 p.m., Derrick Brown, the salesperson, was on-site to offer replacement options. We came up with a plan, and new tanks were installed two days later once they arrived with a 30-year warranty and additional capacity. It could not have gone any smoother.
