The Company Behind Your Service
The Townsend name has been in New England since 1931, when Mial E. Townsend started delivering kerosene out of his home in Beverly Farms. Warren Townsend returned from World War II in 1945 and joined his father in the business. Dorothy McElroy was the trusted voice customers heard on the phone for decades. Today, Court and Brookes Townsend are part of the team, and the same standard Mial built the company on still holds: show up, do the work, and treat people the way you'd want to be treated.
In September 2025, our team donated all labor for a bathroom restoration at the Marblehead VFW Post 2005. It's a specific, documented commitment to the communities we serve. We hold memberships in the New England Fuel Institute (NEFI), the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), and the Propane Gas Association of New England (PGANE). Our technicians are registered with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency.
